The Alliance of Congressional STEM Fellowships is dedicated to bridging the gap between scientific research and policymaking. Our mission is to provide evidence-based insights, facilitate collaboration between scientists and lawmakers, and promote the use of scientific knowledge in the development of effective and informed policies that address societal challenges and foster sustainable progress.

Our vision is to create a world where scientific evidence is at the heart of policymaking, where scientific knowledge is effectively translated into practical solutions, and where policymakers and scientists work together seamlessly to tackle complex issues and improve the well-being of communities. We strive to be a trusted resource and a catalyst for change, driving the integration of science and policy for the betterment of society.

The Congressional STEM Fellowship Program

  • You will join a cohort of undergraduate and graduate students studying STEM for a prestigious summer internship in a U.S. Congressional office to network and gain valuable experience in science policy. You will also participate in professional development and mentoring programs during and following the summer placement period.

  • This is a six month program that will span from the end of May through the end of November. Eight of those weeks during the summer, you will be working on Capitol Hill. The remaining 4 months will be dedicated to virtual professional development and mentoring programming.

    Fellows must commit to participating in all 6 months of the program.

  • With the Congressional STEM Fellowship Program, you'll dive into the heart of policy-making with a hands-on experience that merges science with policy. Not only will you expand your professional network by connecting with a broad spectrum of businesses and experts in the scientific and political realms, but you'll also experience what it's like to live and work in the nation's capitol. Your time in DC will be enriched by exclusive professional development sessions with leading policy professionals, equipping you with insights and skills to advance your career. This is a can't-miss opportunity for any student who's interested in the intersection of policy and STEM.
